Von der Leyen ally tipped to join EU Commission's defence industry directorate

A German managing director from the European External Action Service (EEAS) is expected to join the European Commission shortly. The move comes amid a power struggle between the two institutions and as the EU's diplomatic arm finds itself in an increasingly delicate position.
