Under pressure from member states, EU trade chief Sefcovic changes tack on China
The European trade commissioner conceded to Donald Trump's demand for higher tariffs on European goods and signed the Mercosur agreement, but he intends to play hardball with China during his visit there next month. Maroš Šefčovič has been given a mandate by all 27 EU member states to take a tougher stance as Europe's trade deficit with China hits record levels.
